Course Outline

This eight hour course provides valuable information for those individuals who design, install and operate disinfection systems for both drinking water and wastewater treatment systems.  Completion of this course will provide the student the necessary information and testing to meet the continuing education requirements in order to renew their licenses.  It was designed by an instructor who has developed and implemented numerous similar training courses. 

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

Intended Audience

The intended audience for this course is any professional who is involved in the design, regulation, installation, operation or maintenance of drinking water and wastewater treatment systems.

Attendees of this course will understand how to select, design, install or operate and maintain a drinking water or wastewater disinfection treatment systems, and will greatly reduce the learning curve for any professional.


Course Introduction

With the requirements to properly disinfect drinking water and wastewater, the need to understand and be able to select among the different disinfection processes is a valuable learning experience.  The USEPA developed a guidance manual in the early 1999.  The course material presents introductory information required to obtain proficiency in the required subject matter.

This course is based upon the US EPA document “Alternative Disinfectants and Oxidants Guidance Manual”, EPA Document No. EPA 815-R-99-014, April 1999.
