Airfield Flexible Pavements are used to provide a means of transport of people, and materials through air travel. The use of Airfield Flexible Pavement ranges from runways interiors, taxiways, shoulders and overruns. The course materials are based solely on the Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Manual “Airfield Flexible Pavement Design” as found on the website of the Army Corps of Engineers.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.

Course Introduction

Flexible Pavement is used to provide a means of transport of people, and materials. The use of Flexible Pavement ranges from runways to some taxiways. Several design parameters are involved in airfield flexible pavement design including base and subbase, and material composition. It is important that all of these parameters are designed and tested efficiently for the entire pavement unit to function correctly. After reading this course the student will know the basic information regarding Airfield Flexible Pavement Design.
