Course Outline
This course will introduce you to the need for a faster and more efficient USB serial method of transferring data to computer storage devices and peripheral devices due to the much larger Hard Drives and the solid state memories that have been develop since the introduction of the USB in the late 90s.
This course includes
a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding
of the course materials.
Learning Objective
At the conclusion of this course, this course will learn:
- The history of the USB;
- The need for USB 3.0;
- The USB 3.0 Speed and Compatibility;
- The plugs and receptacles used for interfacing; and
- The present device availability.
Intended Audience
All engineering involves the production of massive amounts of technical date that is generated by computers. Since computers do crash or are infected as certain as the dun comes up, this data must be backed up on a regular basis. Large A/E firms do backups with there networks, but smaller and one man operations (as I am) must have a method that is available on an individual computer basis. One very good method is with a external hard drive and this is what the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 had in mind.
USB 3.0, also referred to as “SuperSpeed USB”, is the latest and most advanced development of the Universal Serial Bus host adapter protocol to be promoted by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF)i. The new interface builds on the “universal” convenience offered by the USB standard; while delivering improved performance and data transfer speeds between USB 3.0-capable devices.

Course Summary
