Course Outline

Ladders are one of common tools used by engineers to access to information on equipment plates or to measure features of a building or process equipment.  This two hour course will prepare engineers with knowledge how to select, use and store ladders safely.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

Intended Audience

This course is intended for environmental engineers, consulting engineers and EHS professionals.

Benefit to Attendees

This course will help attendees select, use, maintain and store portable ladders safely during the course of engineering work.

Course Introduction

The improper selection and use of a ladder can be disastrous and result in a serous injury or even death.  It is estimated that ladder use results in over 200,000 trips to the emergency room each year in the United States alone.  It is thus important for engineers to understand how to use a ladder safely since they are common tools of the trade.  Licensed professional engineers must have knowledge of basic ladder safety during engineering projects.  This course is intended to provide the attendee with the background and information to how to select, use, maintain, transport and store a ladder.  Through this online course, licensed professionals, consulting engineers and EHS professionals can also learn about how to conduct a pre-use inspection of a ladder, as well as gain knowledge of common ladder accidents and how to avoid them.
