Course Outline

Heat transfer is a fundamental component of any chemical engineering education. However, if it's been awhile since you've dealt with heat transfer, a quick refresher on the basics can be extremely helpful. This course is also helpful to anyone with little or no heat transfer education. You'll learn the basics of industrial heat transfer and the equipment involved.

This 2-hour online course covers the basics of heat transfer theory, and gives an overview of some of the most common industrial heat transfer equipment and how each type of equipment works.

The course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

Course Introduction

Heat transfer is one of the most important industrial processes. Throughout any industrial facility, heat must be added, removed, or moved from one process stream to another. Understanding the basics of the heart of this operation is key to any engineers' mastery of the subject. There are three basic types of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation. The two most common forms encountered in the chemical processing industry are conduction and convection. This course focuses on these key types of heat transfer.
