Basic Process Design Engineering for Non Process Engineers

Course Outline

This is a 3 hour course using the NORSOK Standard P-001 - "Process Design".

The NORSOK Standards are a set of standards and specifications that have been adopted by numerous major Operators in the Norwegian North Sea sectors and other territories. They are based on recognised international industry codes and standards.

NORSOK Standards are aimed at the Offshore, upstream sector of the Oil and Gas industry, however P-001 uses ASME B31.3 - "Process Piping" as a base document.

It is essential that all Engineers have a basic knowledge of Process Design and the terminology and objectives of Process Engineers who are working on the same project.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

Learning Objective

The objective is to understand the basic Process Engineering and the scope of a Process Engineers working on the project.

Piping Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Project Engineers, Procurement Managers and Project Buyers, QA/QC Personnel, and Inspectors.

An Engineers who is familiar with the fundamentals of Process Design and the objectives of a Process Engineer and their job scope will find communication and problem solving between the two disciplines easier.

Course Summary

A project is executed by a multi-discipline team of Engineers and Designers, who are all responsible for bringing the job to a successful conclusion. It is therefore very important for Engineers to have a basic knowledge of Process Engineering, which is the fundamental discipline around which the project is built.
