Course Outline
This 1 PDH course spreadsheet can be used to calculate the: Volume and Weight capacities of a range of bulk materials elevated by bucket elevators.
The calculations will facilitate the initial design and engineering of three types of bucket elevators: Centrifugal, Continuous, and High Speed.
When various factors are typed into the Input cells, Excel will calculate results automatically. In addition, the powerful what-if tool, "Goal Seek" can be used to optimize each calculation.
Bucket elevators are used to convey many different materials.
There are three sections in this short and to the point course:
1. Bucket Elevator Applications
2. Centrifugal Elevators
3. Continuous Elevators
4. High Speed Elevators
The course includes
a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding
of the course materials.
Learning Objective
At the conclusion of this course the student will:
- have seen illustrations of typical bucket elevator applications;
- be able to select the correct type of bucket elevator;
- calculate the volume of bulk materials transported by bucket elevators;
- calculate the weight of bulk materials transported by bucket elevators;
- estimated the lift and overall dimensions of bucket elevators; and
- use Excel’s “Goal Seek” to optimize the engineering and design of bucket elevators.
