Course Outline

The course discusses about role of Heat Pipe in heat transfer which is a process taking place in almost ALL industry / applications. How use of Heat Pipe can increase heat transfer is explained in this course. Heat Pipe based heat exchangers are also useful in recovery of waste heat. The performance of heat pipe is function of type of wick material and properties of working fluid. They are explained in subsequent sections. Many proven applications of heat pipes are listed in the course. Some images of Heat Pipe based applications are given at the end of course.

Course Introduction

To improve the efficiency of the plant by increasing rate of heat transfer is prime focus in any process or industry. How Heat Pipe is applicable for that is discussed in present course. It includes working of heat pipes, applications, working fluid, wick structure etc. It explains how heat pipe is comparable with solid material of same dimensions. It also includes selection, costing and heat pipe based applications.
