Course Outline

Step-by-step illustrated examples show how to use tools to create all types of engineering three dimensional part and assembly solid models. This course is divided into 18 sections:

  3 - SECOND PRACTICE PART - ROUND REVOLVED SHAPE 

  4 - CREATE A CIRCULAR  PATTERN OF HOLES  

  5 - THIRD PARACTICE PART - SWEEP 

  6 - CONCENTRIC PIPE REDUCER – LOFT 

  7 - BOTTOM UP ASSEMBLIES 

  8 - TOP DOWN ASSEMBLIES 

  9 - EXTRUDE DIRECTIONS 1 & 2  

10 - REFERANCE PLANE 

11 - FIRST ASSEMBLY - PIPE ELBOW 

12 - SECOND ASSEMBLY - PIPE RUN  

13 - CREATE AN ASSEMBLY DRAWING  

14 - BILL OF MATERIALS 

15 - REVISE  DIMENSIONS WITH REBUILD 

16 - 3D SKETCH AND SWEEP 

17 - FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS (FEA) 

18 - SOLIDWORKS MENUS 

The course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

Learning Objective

The student will see step-by-step illustrated examples of typical SolidWorks 2 and 3-dimensional objects to an accuracy of less than one ten thousandths of an inch:

Parts

dimensioned drawings
sketching lines, polygons, and other profiles
apply: horizontal, vertical, parallel, perpendicular, geometric constraints automatically.
sketch lines at any angle
sketch lines of adjustable length
create circles of any desired diameter.
add dimensions to a drawing automatically.

Create any two dimensional profile or pattern of shapes with the following tools:
Sketch
Copy
Mirror
Circular and rectangular patterns
Move
Rotate
Chamfer any angle
Fillet any radius

Convert 2 dimensional sketches to 3 dimensional solid models with:
Extrude
Revolve
Loft
Sweep

F key to fill the view area

Create 3D assemblies composed of any number of parts.

Insert a part or assembly into a standard ANSI or ISO drawing sheet and create isometric and orthographic two dimensional views, sections, and details fully dimensioned automatically.
