PDHonline Course Provider Biography
Mr. Duss is a graduate of Michigan Technological University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in several states. Mr. Duss began his engineering career in California working for the Bridge Department of the California Division of Highways. Following a stint in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps as Contracts Officer at the Naval Air Station in Brunswick, Maine, he worked for industrial giants such as Caterpillar, Ford Motor and General Electric. Mr.Duss then decided to work for general contractors such as Turner, Walbridge-Aldinger and Perini. He recently worked for the US Postal Service as lead Project Manager on several major projects. Working for owners and contractors/construction managers, Mr.Duss has gained extensive design-build experience on projects up to and exceeding $300 million. Industries include manufacturing, industrial, petro-chemical, retail, high-end condo, resort, multi-use hi-rise and specialties projects in Europe and South America.
Mr. Duss has mentored numerous subordinates in the development, construction and administration of projects throughout the United States, Europe and South America. Particular emphasis has been gained in the Earned Value Management area concentrating on cost loading schedules and periodic updating to determine cost, time and risk variations and establish possible corrections to the negative variations.
