Dr. Garbin has amassed over three decades of diverse experience in commercial and residential construction, civil-geotechnical engineering, and academia. He is the President and Founder of Garbin GeoStructural Group, LLC, offering subject matter expertise in specialty geotechnical engineering and construction, as well as continuing education for engineers and architects.
In 1988 and 1989, Dr. Garbin briefly studied architecture at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thereafter he attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, earning degrees in Structural Engineering (B.S.) and Geotechnical Engineering (M.S., Ph.D.). While at USF he taught courses in both structural and geotechnical engineering, and remained an Adjunct Professor until 2007.
For several years Dr. Garbin worked for Applied Foundation Testing in Tampa, specializing in instrumentation and verification testing of shallow and deep foundation systems. Thereafter, he profitably managed the Geotechnical Engineering and Drilling departments of Universal Engineering Sciencesí Tampa branch. In 2007, Dr. Garbin joined Hayward Baker as their Southern Regionís Chief Engineer. He was responsible for specialty geotechnical and geo-structural projects in the Southeastern U.S., the Caribbean, and Central America. He left Hayward Baker at the end of 2014 to join Earth Tech, where he served as Vice President of Engineering for nearly three years.
Dr. Garbin is a Licensed Professional Engineer in four states, and is a Board-certified Diplomate, Geotechnical Engineering through ASCEís Academy of Geo-Professionals. His areas of technical expertise include commercial construction, geo-structural instrumentation and data acquisition, ground improvement, earth retention, and specialty deep foundation systems.
