OSHA Required Training – Control of Hazardous Energy “Lockout/Tagout” – 29 CFR 1910.147

H. Wayne Harper, PE

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created by the United States Congress in 1971 as a federal agency in the Department of Labor. OSHA's mission is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health. To help establish safer workplaces, OSHA regulations for “general industry” (29 CFR 1910) stipulate required employee training for 29 topics, as applicable to the specific work environment. This course focuses on the responsibilities and training requirements pursuant to 29 CFR 1910.147 – Control of Hazardous Energy “Lockout/Tagout”, which refers to specific practices and procedures to safeguard employees from the unexpected energization or startup of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service or maintenance activities. Additionally, a multiple-choice quiz at the end of the course is provided and is designed to further augment the understanding of course materials.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
