The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created by the United States Congress in 1971 as a federal agency in the Department of Labor. OSHA's mission is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health. To help establish safer workplaces, OSHA regulations for “general industry” (29 CFR 1910) stipulate required employee training for 29 topics, as applicable to the specific work environment. This course focuses on the responsibilities and training requirements pursuant to 29 CFR 1910.134 – Respiratory Protection, which refers to specific practices and procedures for respiratory use to safeguard employees from airborne contaminants in the workplace. Additionally, a multiple-choice quiz at the end of the course is provided and is designed to further augment the understanding of course materials.

NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public. NY Board does not accept courses related to office management, risk management, leadership, marketing, accounting, financial planning, real estate, and basic CAD. Specific course topics that are on the borderline and are not acceptable by the NY Board have been noted under the course description on our website.
