Foundations design and construction deal with both engineering and economics. The selection of the most cost-effective foundation requires cost and performance evaluations of both shallow and deep foundations. Shallow foundations are usually more cost-effective than deep foundations for situations where they are appropriate for support of structural elements.
This course, as a part of the Geotechnical Engineering Series, covers basic theories, engineering evaluations, and practical approaches for design of shallow foundations.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
