Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) has been widely used in many areas of engineering, from civil to mechanical to structural. In recent years, the use of cold-formed steel in both commercial and residential construction has been increased significantly. This course provides general guidance on cold-formed steel design to engineers, architects, and contractors. It consists of four parts: 1. An overview of cold-formed steel structures, which discusses the manufacturing process of CFS, industry-standard nomenclatures, and CFS applications in today's construction market. 2. Review of the mechanical properties of CFS and fundamental theories of cold-formed steel design. 3. Brick Veneer/Steel Stud Wall Design, which addresses the considerations and recommendations for the design, detailing, materials selection and construction of brick veneer/steel stud panel walls. 4. A Sample Project Discussion, which uses a six-story apartment building with load-bearing stud walls as an example to illustrate the design concepts and procedures for X-braces.
The course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials. All quiz questions are reviewed during the webinar. You are guaranteed to pass this quiz.
Note to Webinar Attendees:
Our live webinars (web seminars) are considered as "Courses of Learning" (live courses) by the New York State Board for Engineering and Land Surveying and as "Timed & Monitored Courses" by the Ohio State Board for Professional Engineers and Surveyors. Unlike the traditional seminars held in a classroom setting, our webinars deliver live instruction to your home or office. You will be able to interact directly with our instructor during a webinar through audio channel or chat box. However, you must attend the webinar at a scheduled date and time. We will verify your attendance through our online webinar platform. The certificate of completion will not be issued unless you attend the webinar and pass a quiz (all quiz questions will be reviewed during the webinar). Thank you for your cooperation.
