This course summarizes the steps necessary to determine the seismic response coefficient (CS) and the seismic design category (SDC) for typical low rise buildings in accordance with ASCE 7-05. Included is a spreadsheet that can be used to determine these values. The student must have a licensed copy of Excel to use this spreadsheet. The use of the spreadsheet is illustrated with an example problem.
The course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is intended to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
