The Investigation and Rehabilitation of Constructed Buildings and Structures: The Investigation of Historical Structural Systems - Part I: Concrete, Hollow Clay Tile & Unit Masonry Framing Systems

This course is the second learning unit associated with the topic of the investigation and rehabilitation of constructed buildings and structures. This second course begins with a discussion of the importance of determining the type and name of any historical structural system that is encountered in an existing building.

The course then includes a detailed discussion of the methods of construction and analysis of the following historical structural systems:

• SMI system
• Other historic reinforced concrete systems
• Hollow clay tile arch systems
• One and two-way hollow clay tile and masonry joist systems
• Prefabricated hollow clay tile and concrete block framing systems


This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
