This course provides information on the safe handling and use of portable nuclear moisture and density gauges commonly used in the construction industry. Portable nuclear gauges provide a highly reliable and accurate method of measuring the moisture and density of a material. Portable nuclear gauges are used to measure parameters such as the moisture in soil and the density in asphalt in a paving mix.
This information does not replace user’s training programs, but rather supplements these programs, the operating manual, and the specific regulatory license issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Agreement State for the specific portable nuclear gauge. The gauge user is required to be knowledgeable of and implement the specific license requirements and the applicable NRC or Agreement State requirements.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
